Creating silk and cashmere jacquard scarves with images from contemporary artists, CeMe Design asks "is it fashion or art?" Maybe both!
For our first project, we're honored to work with Mary Curtis Ratcliff of Berkeley, California (www.marycurtisratcliff.com). We're using her beautiful mixed media triptych entitled "Below the Falls" from 2009. Marco Pizzato, Director of Design for CeMe Design, LLC, has transformed the images into jacquard scarves made of cashmere and silk with our weaving partner, D'arte, in Biella, Italy. We were very fortunate that D'arte produced the prototypes for these scarves without asking us for immediate payment so we could proceed with the project!
These beautiful scarves, which may also be produced in shades of blue, red, and yellow in the future, can be hung on your wall as a piece of art, like a tapestry, or draped around your neck as a fashion statement.
